Extra Innings from 9/11: 20 Years Later – a feature-length documentary that will tell the remarkable and poignant story of how baseball helped aid both New York and the nation’s recovery in the weeks and months following the horrific attacks in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of 9/11 – will premiere on HBO Max, Saturday, Sept. 11Click on the image below to view the trailer.

A host of powerful stories are shared throughout the documentary by nearly 20 different individuals with first-hand accounts of 9/11 including former New York Yankees Joe Torre and Bernie Williams and former New York Mets Bobby Valentine, Mike Piazza, John Franco and Al Leiter, in addition to the personal reflections from family members of first responders and others who lost their lives. The film captures the effects of those tragic events on the lives of the storytellers now 20 years later.
 
From the players and team executives to first responders, government officials and fans of the game – everyone has a story to tell. A story about life and loss. A story about the healing power of sports. And a story about the human spirit.
 
Extra Innings from 9/11: 20 Years Later is produced by Turner Sports, in conjunction with The Montag Group and Six West Media; executive produced by Torre and Valentine – then managers of the Yankees and Mets, respectively – along with Sandy Montag, CEO of The Montag Group, and Steve Ascher with A+E; and produced and directed by Ross Greenburg and Joe Lavine.
