Danielle Brooks is an American actor and singer best known for her role on the popular series Orange Is the New Black. Her recent work includes the feature film The Day Shall Come, and the award-winning film Clemency. Brooks can be seen on the Emmy Award®-winning comedy, Master of None, and popular HBO shows, High Maintenance and Girls.

On stage, Brooks made her Broadway debut in the Tony Award®-winning revival of The Color Purple and starred in The Public Theatre's Shakespeare in the Park production of Much Ado About Nothing. Brooks is also an Executive Producer on the Tony Award®-winning Musical Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations.

Brooks has garnered several awards including a Grammy Award for the musical album of The Color Purple, She has also received nominations for a Tony Award®, Drama Desk Award, an Outer Critics Circle Award and a Drama League Award for Distinguished Performance.

Brooks is a graduate of The Julliard School.
