Jakob Verbruggen
Executive Producer

Jakob Verbruggen is the Director and Executive Producer of The Alienist for TNT, Paramount Television and Anonymous Content. He previously directed Black Mirror and the season four finale of House of Cards. He also directed London Spy, starring Ben Wishaw and Jim Broadbent, for which he was nominated for a BAFTA Craft Award for Best Director. Among his other credits, Verbruggen directed the BBC crime drama The Fall for Artists Studio. The series, starring Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan, was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Miniseries and was described by The Guardian as “one of the best dramas on the BBC in years.” 

 

Eric Roth
Executive Producer

In his nearly fifty-year career, Eric Roth won an Academy Award and a Writers Guild of America Award for his screenplay for the Oscar-winning Best Picture Forrest Gump. He also received Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for his screenplays for The Insider, Munich and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. His work includes Michael Mann’s Ali, Robert De Niro’s The Good Shepherd and Academy Award Best Picture-nominated Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close. He was awarded the Writers Guild’s Laurel Award for Lifetime Achievement in Screenwriting in 2012. Roth recently completed A Star Is Born for Warner Brothers, directed by and starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, which just wrapped production this summer. His script for Imperative Entertainment, Killers of the Flower Moon, based on the novel of the same name by David Grann, will be directed by Martin Scorsese and will star Leonardo DiCaprio. Roth is currently writing the adaptation of the iconic science fiction novel Dune for director Denis Villeneuve and Legendary Pictures and the Untitled David Geffen Project for Tobey Maguire and Material Pictures. 

In television, Roth is the executive producer with David Fincher on Netflix’s House of Cards, which is in its fifth season and has received five Emmy nominations for Best Dramatic Series. He is also an executive producer on Berlin Station for Epix, currently starting its second season. Roth is an executive producer on The Alienist from the classic novel by Caleb Carr on TNT, starring Daniel Brühl, Luke Evans and Dakota Fanning for Paramount Television. His daughter, Vanessa Roth, won an Academy Award in 2007 for the best short documentary, Freeheld. Roth lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Debra Greenfield, an attorney and professor with the UCLA Institute for Society and Genetics. He has seven children and six grandchildren.

 

Hossein Amini
Executive Producer

Hossein Amini is a film writer who was nominated for an Oscar for his adaptation of Henry James' classic novel Wings of a Dove, which starred Helena Bonham Carter, Linus Roach and Alison Elliott.

He has also written Jude, starring Kate Winslet and Christopher Ecclestone, which won the Edinburgh Film festival prize for Best British Film, and has worked on Gangs of New York, starring Daniel Day Lewis and Leonardo diCaprio, as well as The Four Feathers with Heath Ledger.

In 2011, he wrote the screenplay for Drive starring Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan, which was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for Best Film at the BAFTAs in 2012.

In 2014, Amini made his directorial debut with his own adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's The Two Faces of January, starring Vigo Mortensen, Kirsten Dunst and Oscar Isaac.

He is currently working on The Alienist for Paramount and McMafia for Cuba Pictures. 

 

E. Max Frye
Executive Producer

E. Max Frye won an Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for his first screenplay, Something Wild, directed by Jonathan Demme.  He was nominated for an Academy Award for co-writing the original screenplay of the critically acclaimed film Foxcatcher.

 

Steve Golin
Executive Producer

Steve Golin is the Founder and CEO of Anonymous Content, a leading production and management company. Over the past 30 years, he has developed a reputation for cultivating and protecting artistic freedom while maintaining commercial viability, working across feature films, television, commercials, music videos and new media.

Golin has produced more than 50 feature film and television projects during his esteemed career. Currently, he is producing the upcoming features Don’t Worry He Won’t Get Far on Foot for Amazon, Boy Erased for Focus Features and Outlaw King for Netflix. Golin is also executive producing several television shows, including the critically acclaimed series 13 Reasons Why, which is currently filming its second season for Netflix; the HBO anthology series True Detective, created by Nic Pizzolatto, recipient of 11 Emmy nominations and five wins in its first season; The Alienist, which received a series order from TNT; and Berlin Station, the contemporary spy series for Epix.

Golin’s recent accolades include the Academy Award winner for Best Picture Spotlight, directed by Tom McCarthy and starring Michael Keaton, Stanley Tucci, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, Aaron Eckhart and Liev Schreiber; Golden Globe winner for Best Motion Picture The Revenant, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu and starring Leonardo DiCaprio; and, Golden Globe winner for Best Television Series and Emmy Outstanding Drama Series nominee Mr. Robot, created by Sam Esmail and starring Rami Malek and Christian Slater. 

Golin’s other credits include such award-winning and nominated films as Babel, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu; Being John Malkovich directed by Spike Jonze; Michel Gondry's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; Debra Granik’s Winter’s Bone and the box-office smash 50 First Dates.

Golin's earlier producing credits include David Lynch's Palme d’Or Winning film Wild at Heart, Truth or Dare with Madonna, Jane Campion's The Portrait of a Lady, David Fincher's The Game, Neil LaBute's Your Friends and Neighbors, Nurse Betty and acclaimed television series such as The L Word and David Lynch’s Twin Peaks.

In 1986, Golin co-founded his first company, Propaganda Films. It became the largest music video and commercial production company in the world, earning more MTV Video and Palme d’Or awards than any other company.

Golin is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Producers Guild of America. He attended New York University and the American Film Institute.

 

Rosalie Swedlin
Executive Producer

Rosalie Swedlin is a producer and literary manager at Anonymous Content. She was previously a literary manager, producer and partner at Industry Entertainment for twelve years after having served as a senior vice president at International Creative Management (ICM). Prior to that, Swedlin was an agent at Creative Artists Agency (CAA) from 1981 – 1991 and was named co-head of the agency’s motion picture department during that time.

In addition to The Alienist, upcoming television projects include a limited series based on the bestselling novel Defending Jacob, adapted by Mark Bomback and to be directed by Morten Tyldum and a television series based on Diksha Basu’s novel The Windfall to be written and directed by Shonali Bose.

Upcoming film projects include Jane Anderson’s adaptation of the bestselling novel The Women in the Castle, a film by Cherien Dabis about the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, Haifaa Al Mansour’s adaptation of the Cara Hoffman novel Be Safe I Love You and The Wife, written by Jane Anderson, starring Glenn Close and Jonathan Pryce, which will be premiering at TIFF 2017.

Swedlin also manages a distinguished list of film and television writers and directors.

 

Chris Symes
Executive Producer

In 1985, versatile producer Chris Symes left Bath Academy of Art with first class honors to pursue a career in film and television. In 1990, he became a music video producer and joined the European arm of Hollywood based Propaganda Films, which was part of Polygram Filmed Entertainment.

In 1994, Symes was made Head of European Production for Propaganda Films, being responsible for the management of all music videos, commercials, long forms and documentaries shooting in Europe, including those visiting from the company head office in Los Angeles.

In 1995, Symes became Managing Director of Propaganda Films Europe, being responsible for the entire European budget, all aspects of production plus the all important development of new projects and creative talent. Symes then returned to the freelance market in 1997 to work on individual feature film projects.

Since then, Symes’ talent has helped drive box office hits such as Resident Evil, AVP: Alien vs. Predator, Eragon, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, and critically acclaimed shows such as Starz’s Black Sails.  He has worked in the capacity of co-producer, producer or executive producer on motion pictures and TV drama for 20th Century Fox, Universal, Relativity Media, Constantin Film Produktion, New Regency and Polygram Filmed Entertainment amongst others.

 

Cary Fukunaga
Executive Producer

Cary Joji Fukunaga's work as a writer, director and cinematographer has taken him from the Arctic Circle to Haiti and East Africa.  His television work includes directing and executive producing the first season of HBO’s acclaimed mystery drama True Detective, for which he won an Emmy for outstanding directing.  Fukunaga made his feature film writing and directing debut with the critically acclaimed Sin Nombre followed by the film adaptation of Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre, both released by Focus Features.  His third film, Beasts of No Nation, released by Netflix, was an official selection at the Venice, Telluride and Toronto film festivals and earned Idris Elba Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations for Best Supporting Actor.  Fukunaga is currently in production on Maniac starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill for Netflix, set to premiere in late 2018.
