John Moore has found sobriety and purpose in his new career as a news reporter for the New York Times, and he is engaged to Violet, the goddaughter of newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst. Moore rejoins Howard and Kreizler in the hunt for this new serial killer using the access and resources the New York Times as well as the “pulpit” it provides him to draw attention to the case as well as the institutional corruption it reveals.
