SUCCESSION Ep. 4 Draws 2.6M Viewers; BARRY Season 4 Debut Marks Most Viewers Since Season 2 Finale
HBO and HBO Max saw strong Sunday night viewership with “Succession” episode four hitting a new series high, and the season four premiere episode of “Barry,” amassing its highest viewership since the season two finale.
Sunday’s episode of SUCCESSION drew 2.6 million viewers across HBO Max and linear telecasts, marking a new series high. Total viewing was 4% higher than last week’s episode (2.5 million) and 11% above the season four premiere episode (2.3 million). Additionally, the season four premiere episode has garnered nearly 8 million viewers across platforms in just four weeks. Viewership figures are based on Nielsen and first party data.
Created by Jesse Armstrong, the ten-episode fourth and final season of the Emmy®-winning HBO Original drama series debuted March 26, with new episodes debuting Sundays at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. The series explores themes of power and family dynamics through the eyes of patriarch Logan Roy (Brian Cox) and his four grown children, Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Siobhan (Sarah Snook), Roman (Kieran Culkin), and Connor (Alan Ruck).
Between new episodes, viewers can tune in to the official “Succession” podcast, which features conversations with the major players from the award-winning HBO series. Hosted by Kara Swisher, the multi-part podcast dives deep into the razor-sharp writing, dynamic performances, and high-powered family drama that drive the series. The podcast is currently #2 on Apple’s TV & Film chart in the U.S.
BARRY debuted Sunday night with two episodes, with the premiere episode garnering a total of 710k viewers, marking the highest performance since the season two finale (which benefited from a "Game of Thrones" lead-in) and episode two drawing 550k viewers across HBO Max and linear telecasts, Viewership figures are based on Nielsen and first party data.
The Emmy®-winning dark comedy series starring and directed by Emmy® and DGA-winner Bill Hader, returned for its fourth and final eight-episode season with two new episodes on April 16. New episodes will debut each Sunday, leading up to the series finale on May 28. This season, Cousineau (Henry Winkler) is hailed as a hero as Barry’s (Bill Hader) arrest has shocking consequences. Hader and Alec Berg are the series co-creators and executive producers. The first three seasons received a total of 44 Emmy® nominations and nine Emmys®.
